Getting Ready for Finals – Academic Coaching Tips from the Learning Center:

Make a plan.

  • Write down the work you have left in the term for each class, including all due dates and exam dates.
  • Work backwards from your deadlines and break down each assignment into sections. Then assign those sections to the remaining days in the term.
  • Include breaks between tasks to avoid burnout.

Stay focused during your study time.

  • Set a goal for each study session based on your plan. Write down your goal to help you stay on track.
  • Try the Pomodoro Method. Break your study time into 25-minute chunks, with 5-minute breaks between them. After 2 hours (for longer study sessions), take a 20-minute break. Repeat as necessary. Use a timer to keep track!

Manage test anxiety.

Get support.

  • If you are looking for more guidance on preparing for and taking tests, don’t hesitate to meet with an academic coach for free academic support.

*Cafe Yumm fine print: Present PSU student ID at time of order. Offer good with purchase of prepared menu items only (excludes gift cards, alcohol, and retail items). Valid at PSU Rec Center location only. Limit one discount per person. Not valid with any other promotional offer. Offer not valid after March 23, 2024.
